Many years ago, my boys were in Cub Scouts and each boy in the pack was to make a car with which to compete. I made the boys do their own with a minimum of supervision.
A generation later, after my granddaughter raced a car, one father said, “Now that the kids have competed, the fathers should have a competition.”
My son said, “I thought we just had one.”
That said, let the child make a project his or her own, but show him or her how to use the tools safely.]]></description>
